My next chapter
Being a writer and editor is a lot of fun, but recently I've been wondering what else I could do. How could I take my experience, knowledge and contacts, and use them in new ways?As of today, I'm self-employed and available for bookings for:
Consultancy: Working with companies to devise and implement rock-solid, high-quality content and editorial strategies, and advising tech companies on how best to tell their story.
Speaking: Moderating panels, MCing events and leading fireside chats, focusing on technology and media topics.
Education: Presenting educational workshops for large and small groups, on topics like emerging technologies, writing for online audiences, and pitching to the press.
Writing: Occasional commissions on technology and media topics.
Exploration
I'm taking an open and flexible approach to this new venture. If there's a way you think we could work together that isn't mentioned above, either on a one-off, short-term, or longer-term basis, get in touch and let's talk about it. This is as much about finding out what people value me for as it is expanding my activities. In addition to the above I'll be exploring advisory roles with companies and organisations that I can add value to.I'm based in Manchester, UK and available to work with companies across the UK, Europe, and around the world. I can work either on-site or remotely, depending on the work and your needs. Obviously I'll be on-site for events bookings – unless you have some fancy hologram tech you're desperate to try.You can find out more about what I've got to offer on my new website. As for my former employer, I remain a firm believer in Tech North's mission. I wish the excellent team there and at Tech City UK all the best as they become Tech Nation this year. I'll be rooting for them.Image credit: Dardan Mu on Unsplash
